Onboard Credit, how to self purchase?

Has anyone purchased OBC for themselves or as a gift for someone? If so, what is the process to do it? Do you just call Cunard with the booking # and have it added via credit card purchase. Also, if the amount is not entirely used, is it refundable? Thanks.

I'm not sure about purchasing OBC but any OBC that I have had in the past was not refundable. Use it or lose it seems to be the theme. Hope this helps somewhat.

I was on the Farewell World Cruise of the QE2 for 90 days. I simply went to the Purser's Office and gave them cash, and they added that amount to my OBC (my account). The OBC one may or may not be "given" as an incentive to sign up for travel is not refundable, as I understand it. But purchasing OBC or purchasing it as a gift for someone else is an entirely different matter.
