Doeymeister Posted June 3, 2008 #1 Share Posted June 3, 2008 Actually three questions, but I didn't know the plural of frage (fragen?). First, your previous posts have been most helpful in planning our trip to Berlin. We arrive on the Norwegian Jewel on Monday, July 7th. From your other posts it sounds like our best option for traveling to Berlin is to catch the 8:03 train to Waren(Muritz) and connect to Berlin using your idea of a RT to and from Waren and landertickets for the journey from Waren to Berlin and back. I reference your earlier post: Buy a ticket: Single ticket 16.10 EUR to Waren(Müritz) x 2 persons = 32.20 EUR Länderticket Mecklenburg-Vorpommern = 25.00 EUR Länderticket Brandenburg = 26.00 EUR First question: The train schedules show the train from Warnemende arriving in Waren at 9:29, and the train to Berlin departing at 9:34. Is this the same train, or do we need to change trains in Waren? Second question: Do you know the route that bus 100 takes from the Zoologischer Garten to Alexanderplatz? I don't want to get on the bus if it's not going by any important sites that we could see by just walking. We are primarily interested in WWII historical sites. Last question: The 4:43 return train from Berlin seems to be our best option, but it shows one change of trains in the schedule. Do you know where this change occurs? Thank you very much for the assistance.
Rare HeinBloed Posted June 3, 2008 #2 Share Posted June 3, 2008 Actually three questions, but I didn't know the plural of frage (fragen?). You know absolutely: one question = eine Frage few questions = mehrere Fragen First, your previous posts have been most helpful in planning our trip to Berlin. Was this answer related to NORWEGIAN JEWEL??? Have a look here: http://www.ncl.com/nclweb/booking/cruisedetails.html?packageId=1241282 and http://www.rostock-port.de/kreuzschifffahrt/anlaeufe/anlaeufe_2008.html Arrival time is 08.00 am. I doubt that you can make 08.03 am!!! Guess you make it: it's the same train. You stay at the train. It's only a "fare" transfer: with the arrival of Waren your Länderticket Brandenburg-Berlin becomes valid. The Länderticket Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is valid after 09.00 am. Therefore you need to have the single tickets to Waren (Müritz) to cover the time until 09.00 am. Just to make sure for your plannings: dep 08.37 S1-trains from Warnemünde (platform 2) arr 08.58 at Rostock Hbf (Central Station - platform 1) dep 09.04 RE 33006 from Rostock Hbf (platform 6) arr 10.01 at Schwerin Hbf (platform 3) dep 10.18 RE 38211 from Schwerin Hbf (platform 4a) arr 12.36 at Berlin Hbf Second question: Do you know the route that bus 100 takes from the Zoologischer Garten to Alexanderplatz? I don't want to get on the bus if it's not going by any important sites that we could see by just walking. We are primarily interested in WWII historical sites. I would download this link: http://www.bvg.de/index.php/de/Common/Document/field/file/id/1822/filename/Touristenflyer_2008.pdf You see exactly which sights Bus 100 is calling! The easiest will be taking S-train from Hauptbahnhof to Zoologischer Garten. Take Bus 100. Take again S-train from Alexanderplatz back to Hauptbahnhof. Last question: The 4:43 return train from Berlin seems to be our best option, but it shows one change of trains in the schedule. Do you know where this change occurs? It's the change at Rostock Hbf from the Regional Express train to S1 commuter train. BUT due to late arrival I would highly recommended to use: dep 18.12 ICE 1001 from Berlin Hbf arr 20.44 arr Warnemünde It's a direct ICE-high-speed-train service without transfer. Due to late departure from Warnemünde and otherwise a very limited time to about 4 hours I would highly recommend to spend a little more money and take the ICE train back to Rostock. You can get advance purchase tickets for 29.00 EUR for the section from Berlin back to Warnemünde. Viel Spaß in Berlin!!! Willkommen in Deutschland!!! Welcome to Germany!!! Doeymeister Posted June 3, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted June 3, 2008 Danke, mein freund. You know more about our ship's itinerary than I do! My info showed us docking at 7:30 AM, not 8:00, so you are correct that this changes the plan. The map of transit routes within Berlin was exactly what I've been looking for, but was unable to find. I appreciate your assistance.
Rare HeinBloed Posted June 3, 2008 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2008 The map of transit routes within Berlin was exactly what I've been looking for, but was unable to find. Bitte sehr... But did you see that the pdf has page 2 which shows exactly an extract of the map of Berlin incl. route of Bus 100 incl. all sights left and right of the route??? First of all I thought as well: again the rapid transit network but then if you change to page 2 of the pdf-file I am sure that's exactly what you need to know... Subject you are still going to Berlin. Regards, HeinBloed
