Maui Help (Rental Cars, Road to Hona, Biking)

Hi,

I’ve been searching the boards and I’ve gotten a lot of excellent information. (This place is great!!!) We will be in Maui for two days, docking in Lahaina. My plan is for the first day, to get up and rent a car in Kaanapali and do the Road to Hona. In the evening, we’ll probably just hang out either around Lahaina or Kaanapali. The second morning, we’re planning on biking down Haleakala (sunrise tour). Maui Downhill picks you up at the pier.

A couple of questions I would love help with..

- Does this sound like a good way to spend the two days in Maui?

- The rental cars all seem to have to be back by 4. I was thinking we could just drop off the car later in the evening and take a taxi back to the ship. (We won’t be able to drop it off the next day since we’ll be biking). Are there taxis available? Any idea of approximate cost?

- Any other advice?

Thanks!!

Sounds like a plan! Yes, you can drop it off after 4 pm and take a taxi - but I wouldn't count on one just being there. Might want to call ahead and have one waiting. Or why can't you return the car the next day after biking?
