Legend June 8th, Absolutely Amazing!

Last sea day continued:

After the galley tour we decided to head back to the room to pack. :( While packing we watched the debarkation talk on the tv. But, it didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know. After packing we relaxed a little out on the balcony. A little while later we decided to get ready for dinner. Before dinner we went to the Casino for a little while, and relaxed with a cocktail. Dinner was bittersweet since we knew that it would be our last night with our tablemates and waiters. It was sad to hear the farewell song at the end of dinner. And, of course I had to have the chocolate melting cake for dessert one last time. Russ had the cappuccino pie which was also good, but I can get that at home.

We headed straight for the Follies Lounge after dinner. We knew that Tess was going to be in the Legends show, so we wanted to get a good seat. (After we got home we found out that Larry from our roll call was Elvis. It really bums we that we didn’t get a chance to meet.) The Legends show was fantastic! Shawn and Brad were hilarious as Sonny and Cher. I recommend you attend this show if you ever go on the Legend. We enjoyed it a great deal.

After the show there was opportunity to take pictures of the stars that were in the show. I don’t know what happened, but somehow we didn’t do that. :( We went back to our room to put our suitcases out because they needed to be out by midnight. We then checked in to Medusa’s Lair, but there wasn’t a whole lot going on there. We stopped at the Casino one final time, then turned in for the night.

When we got up the next morning we went to breakfast in the dining room. We knew we were in no hurry, so decided to relax while we were still on vacation. Breakfast was very good. And, it was nice to be waited on one final time. We went back to our stateroom gathered our things, and decided to wait in the lounge near the Casino. This was around 8:30. I called my sister to let her know that we were back in Florida when they started to announce luggage tag numbers. I was really surprised because I thought they weren’t going to do this until 9:00. Anyway, we were luggage tag number 5. They called it pretty quickly, and we were off the ship. We had our luggage and were on our way back to Orlando by 9:10.

Overall, I have to say it was the best cruise I have ever been on. The ports were fantastic, the ship was amazing, and the service was awesome! I know that I will be sailing on the Legend again!

Here are some random pictures I didn't fit into the rest of the review:

The famous monkey drinks.

I believe this was on the night we were in Belize. They were singing to the YMCA.

I just love to look at the wake at the aft of the ship.

I believe Shawn had said that we had collected over $1200 for our sailing for the "On Deck for the Cure" walk. She first had those who were survivors start the walk. Everyone else followed. We did 4 laps around the Lido deck. This is equal to a mile.

Later that day we did the Galley Tour. I suggest that you stay in the back of the Follies Lounge for this. This way you can be toward the front of the line for the tour. This tour was very interesting. I really enjoyed seeing the sparkling clean kitchens. The food that was being prepped looked awesome! I thought it was pretty cool to see the escalators that the waiters use to go from the kitchen to the dining room. If you intend to do this tour, be forewarned that this is a popular tour. Many people will attend!

I just looked it up in the Capers. It said that Bryan was in the piano bar.

I wish I had known beforehand about your tip for staying in the back of the lounge. We got to the lounge and bingo was still going so we were in the back but then after bingo we got seats and were in about row 3! We stood in line forever and never made it into the galley before giving up and moving on. The lady we had met at the pool one day was with us for the tour and she said it was the most she had ever seen for a galley tour. WOW! She stayed in line though and told us it was neat, I'll have to be more patient next time.

Bryan is a HOOT in the piano bar. We spent many nights in there singing along with him.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write the review.

I enjoyed writing it. I just wanted others who are waiting their turn to get a "taste" of the Legend.

Sorry you didn't get the tip before you went. I was shocked at how long the line was. But, I'm very glad I went. It definitely was interesting.

Kelli-Ann, thanks for the wonderful review. I feel like I just ended my cruise again on the Legend. And once again, I surely wish that Larry and I had somehow hooked up with everyone that we had been talking with for so long on the posts. But maybe we'll all be on another cruise at the same time, and we can do it all over again. Your pictures were awesome and brought back so many memories. I hated to see it end.

Awesome review, Mom! Thanks!

I loved all the pics of the galley tour. Well... you got great pics of everything! Thanks for sharing those as well!

BTW: I *heart* Orlando!!!

Carrie: Thanks! I really enjoyed writing it! I love Orlando too, but I'm biased since I have lived here for the past 26 years. :)

Peggy: Yes, it's a shame we never did get to meet. But, you're right maybe we'll have the opportunity again on a different cruise. Thanks for the compliment on the pictures. I know that I will look at them often, and pretend that I am on the Legend again.

Bravo! What a great review. I was even kind of sad at the end that vacation was over. I've got a long way to go until March 2009 but I am so looking forward to it and know what to expect now. I can't wait!

I guess that the cruise we're going on is the official Parrotthead Cruise for 2009 too so that should make it all that more interesting.

Thanks so much for posting your review. Really makes it exciting since you posted it so close to our sailing in Sept!

Quick question if you don't mind. I see in your signature you sailed RC SofSeas, how would you compare RC to Carnival?

I am a Carnival junkie, love the value for the money and have only sailed Carnival. RC is priced so much higher and I don't understand why.

On 7-day sailings we are balcony snobs and preferably aft balconies whenever possible - great getaway from the crowds!

Loved your review and the photos were awesome!

Susan: I'm glad you enjoyed my review. I've been on both Sovereign of the Seas as well as Liberty of the Seas. Personally, I don't see what all the hype with RCI is about. The only thing better on RCI is the shows. In my opinion the food and service is much better with Carnival. So, from now on I'm sticking with Carnival unless I get a fantastic price.

I just wanted to chime in with my gratitude to you too Mom! I have been lurking and reading with anticipation from the very first post. I am SO much more excited out the Legend after all of your great photos. Thanks for putting so much time and effort into sharing with us!

Thanks Mom!

You did a FANTASTIC job! I think Cruise Critic should hire you and pay you to go on all the ships and write your very detailed trip reports for everyone on the boards to read. After all, it is these reports that we use to help plan our vacation and excursions! ;)

I am going to use some of your photos for our vacation album (if you don't mind) because we did a lot of the same things. Our 35mm digital camera my in-laws brought, broke in Grand Cayman and the disposable camera we purchased in Cozumel to use in replace of it, ended up being defective and most of the photos I took on that camera didn't come out.

Thanks again for all the time you took to write this! You did a GREAT job!

Her photos are wonderful, and each one is as great as the next. After I had taken pictures with my digital all week long, the battery seem to be low on Friday night. So I handed Larry the camera to take a look at it since he had just put a new battery in the day before. After some inspection and checking here and there, he handed the camera back to me as they were starting the wave goodby in the dining room and I wanted to get photos of our waiters. Well, when I started to use the camera, it showed that there were NO PHOTOS ON THE CAMERA. The picture I was taking of the waiters showed as my first photo. I was horrified, but unfortunately whatever Larry had done to the camera had erased all 200 photos I had taken of our cruise that week. I was sick about it to say the least and Larry was so upset about what happened. So I'm really enjoy Kelli-Ann's photos because they are a lot of the same photos I had taken from the ship and in a lot of the ports.

Michigandergrl: I'm glad I was able to help you know what to expect. If your cruise is a Parrothead cruise I'm sure it will be awesome.

love2relax: I'm glad you're more excited now. (I love the pre-cruise planning almost as much as the cruise. Almost.)

terri: Thank you so much. I can't wait to do the review of the Dream in 2010!

dessert2tropics: I would LOVE to get paid to go on cruises and write reviews. Ahhh, I guess I'll have to settle with teaching students how to write. I'm sorry that your camera was defective. You're more than welcome to use some of my pictures.

crockettman: I am puzzled as to why you can't see my pictures. I wish I could help you.

Peggy: You poor thing. I would be mortified if I had lost 200 pictures! I'm glad that many of my photos were of some of the things you had taken pictures of.

I noticed that you're on Conquest after I repiled to you... I have only been on the one cruise, on the Legend, so cannot answer for the Conquest. I believe all Carnival cruises have a Deck party of some sort, again someone correct me if I'm wrong. The theme of the Party on the Legend for us was Bathrobes. Yours may be different.

I have been on several Carnival Cruises and have never had a bathrobe deck party. But I sure want to go to one because it looks really fun. I guess I will get to do that on my Oct. 5th Legend cruise. I check the caper every day and like to do all the fun stuff!

Why is it that all good things must come to an end? This was such a great review. You are a wonderful writer and photographer! This has made me really excited about taking the Legend in October. Thanks so much for taking the time to do this for everyone. I agree, YOU ROCK! Debbie
