Vibrations AFT Cabin 9227 Vista Deck Galaxy

I have recently booked Deluxe Ocean View Cabin 9227 on Galaxy (Vista Deck) and have just finished reading on the web about bad vibrations in aft cabins when stern thrusters are employed, i.e., early in the morning when docking! Does anyone know from personal experience whether the location of this cabin is a no-no?

We had one of these cabins last year. It will wake you up about two hours before docking time. It lasts a couple minutes then you can doze back off. These cabins are very large with a living room. We loved it. The biggest problem is the main bed. It had walls on three sides. So who ever is sleeping agains the wall will have to climb over their partner to use the facilities in the middle of the night.

Rick, thanks for your reply. :) You make me feel somewhat better about our situation. The bed I can deal with, but drawers and doors opening and closing and toiletries all over the place, plus vibrations more times than those in the a.m., which you described, makes me think I want to stay home! If I decide to switch, since I have time and am assuming I can, do you have any idea how a cabin would be over the casino, as far as noise at night??

We had cabin 8215 which is behind the aft elevators at the edge of the casino. Never heard a thing. Have sailed Galaxy 4x, Mercury 1x, and Century 2x. They are sisters and all very similar. Feel free to ask questions.

In the aft cabin, never had a problem with drawers opening and were aware not to leave anything too close to the edge of the counter tops. Nothing fell. You will also get vibrations as the ship departs port other than that it was a great cabin. And we didn't even have the balcony then.

If you are looking for a balcony and they are still available look into one to one of the CC cabins on deck 12. They are fantastic with balconies as large as the cabin.

If you want just a window cabin look at 8004 or 8007, extra large cabins.

Rick, I am looking at the deck plans, and I see 8004 and 8007. Did you cruise in either one of them? They are both taken, however, there is an "open" one on the pointy end next to 8004. I would be afraid of getting seasick that far forward. I've always had a cabin mid-ship (on HAL and Windstar) and at this point, there does not seem to be a window one available and I don't want a porthole. The cabins that are over the casino are in identical spots, port and starboard, with white spaces opposite them instead of cabins. Perhaps my TA can find out what lurks in those spaces that would make them still "open."

The rest of the cabins at the front of the ship are normal size.

As to motion, if you handled Windstar you shouldn't have a problem. The Galaxy is much larger and on the whole will have less motion.

The balcony cabins you are looking at are partialy over the lifeboards and partly over the casino. Across the hall is crew area and venlation for the casino.
