Vung Tau excursions

We're looking at shore excursions from Vung Tau - the options are to visit Ho Chi Minh city, which is a 2.5 hour drive or stay closer to the docking area at Vung Tau.

 

Is Ho Chi Minh city a 'must see'? Has anyone spent the day around Vung Tau ? We were hoping to get to the Mekong Delta, to My Tho, as it has been offered as an excursion previously, but isn't available for this cruise. Has anyone arranged a private trip whilst in Vung Tau?

not much in Vung Tau last january we went to saigon a lot to see and you have plenty of time to go . we use viet value travel don t use them they are not reliable they will charge extra after you leave the pier beware ???
