safe choice?

With many airlines having trouble these days and filing bankruptcy, is Continental a safe choice?

Among the safest at this time. American is actually the safest, I think, having only lost $16 million last quarter.

A colleague's husband flies for AA - well ... flew MD80 - and keeps hoping to get hired back one day (currently furloughed). Of course he's only 35 so he has about 25 years until forced retirement at age 60.

 

AMR (parent company of American) didn't do too well this quarter (loss of $214 million)

Okay, now I am thinking I should wait for Southwest to post its fares for end of March/beginning of April. Since this is during Spring break would it be a risk to wait for Southwest (I think it will be Nov or Dec before they release fares)?

 

I would appreciate any suggestions!

Evonne - I'd check their website daily. Flights are only available through April 1 right now and Spring Break can vary from school district to school district (mine is mid March).
