Going Ashore! Cost?

Due to go on my first cruise with QM2. This is probably considered a rather daft question, but if you are not taking part in one of the shore excursions, does it cost you to just go ashore and spend the day on your own?

Many thanks

No. Except for what you may purchase ashore, which depending on your tastes and self-control can sometimes pack a punch! Have a great trip!

As others have said there is no cost to go ashore. If you are at anchor then you will be asked to wait until those on morning excursions have used the tenders to go ashore before using them yourself.

You'll find that the crew establishes an "exclusion zone" around the disembarkation point with security to check you ID card before allowing you back through. On our voyage there were wait staff at hand on shore with cold water and hot bouillon for the benefit of weary travelers before returning on board. After passing through the metal detector and baggage x-ray during re-boarding there was always a member of wait staff there to wish us "welcome home".
