chartered cruises

I just booked a cruise on RCCL Jewel of the Seas from Boston to Bermuda in October. I couldn't find the cruise on the RCCL website so I called the internet booking site I used and asked about it. I was surprised to find out that this cruise is a chartered cruise. I called RCCL and the rep there told me this is very common. What is the difference between a chartered cruise and one directly through the cruise line? Should I expect any differences?:)

When you book a cruise and it is later chartered, you can expect the cruise line to call you and have you move your reservation to another week. They usually give you a good incentive to do it, too.

One of my friends is having this happen with an RCCL cruise that has been chartered by Nickelodeon. She has a group ot 54 people on it and now she is waiting to hear from RCL and see what incentive they are going to offer the group to move to another date.
