Back from Carnival Liberty Wedding

Hey everyone! Sorry I am getting this out so late.

Brian and I were married July 26, 2008 on the Carnival Liberty in the port of Miami. We stayed at the Intercontinental Miami two days before the ship sailed. Our parents, sibilings, and a family friend attended. They all sailed with us. It was a small wedding of only twelve people, but we loved it! We arrived to the cruise terminal at around 9:30am and were treated like VIP. All you had to say was "wedding party" and everyone moved out of your way. We met with the WC and had a mini rehearsal in the terminal while waiting to get on the ship. We got on the ship at 10:45am. That was nice! All of the women went to one room to get ready and same for the men. When I walked into the room there was a bottle of champagne and chocolates waiting on us. Of course, there were the love swan towels on the bed. Same for the guys. I had plenty of time to get ready. I did my own hair and make-up. I just wanted something simple to even out with my not simple dress. Everyone headed down to the Tapestry Room where the ceremony was held. My mom and mother-in-law stayed with me. The WC came and got me and escorted me down to the Tapestry room. I met my dad and we waited. The ceremony was probably only 15 to 20 minutes long. After, the ceremony we took some pictures and headed up to the Hot and Cool Disco for the reception. The had our names posted on all the TVs in the disco and outside the disco. The cake was small, but pretty. The food was great!..so was the open bar! We had the DJ and he did a great job. After the reception, we took more photos. At this time, there were people on the ship. I had so many random people ask to take pictures with me! That night at dinner they announced our marriage and for the next three nights we were given a complimentary bottle of champagne. When we got into our room that night, there were rose petals on the floor and the bed. There were also chocolate covered strawberries and another bottle of champagne. They really treated us well. Everyday our cabin steward would say "Hello married couple, how's the honeymoon?" The honeymoon was amazing. We went to the Bahamas, Grand Turk, St. Thomas, and Puerto Rico. The whole experience was amazing, and now we want to go on a cruise every year to celebrate our anniversary.

One more thing, do not pay the price for the photo packages. You can talk them down, you may have to speak with the photo manager, but it is worth it! We ended up haggling with them for two days. We got $700 taken off the package price and we got them to give us every photo taken on a CD without having to buy the expensive package.

Here are some of the photos. If you have any questions let me know! :D

Congrats!! Thanks for sharing your pics- they are beautiful!!!!!

Would you say that it is best to wait until the last day of the cruise to buy your pics that way they are a little more eager to sell them.

Wonderful pictures!! Did you give your photographer a list of the shots that you wanted?

Fantasy Bride-

Thanks!

Yes, I told the photographer exactly what I wanted at the reception, since we took the majority of the pictures after the reception. They will do whatever you want, and take pictures wherever you want. There is no set time with them either, so you can walk around and find different photo opportunities.

Great pics, it looked like a very nice wedding!! Thanks for sharing! Did you like the hotel you stayed in, was it nice and how affordable was it?

Merocket-

Thank you!

The hotel was VERY nice! Our room had a harbor view, so we got to see all the cruise ships come in. I think we paid about $145 a night, and that was in the middle of July. Which was a good price because I believe it is either a 4 or 5 star hotel. We did have a group rate because all of our guests stayed there too; otherwise, I thinks it's between $200 and $400 a night! The hotel is walking distance to everything. We stayed at the one at 100 Chopin Plaza (I believe there are two Intercontinental Hotels in Miami). If you have any other questions let me know. :D

Tiffany-

Thank you!!

Maybe not the last day, but toward the end. You definitely need to speak with the photo manager, because that is what we did. You're probably not going to get every photo you want. Our photographer took about 500 photos!! The best thing to do is make sure you at least get every photo taken put on a CD. That's what we did. I took the CD to a local store to have some developed and the pictures turned out the same as the pics that Carnival printed out. Great quality. So we technically ended up with all 500 pictures. They will be hesitant on giving you a CD with all your pics on it, but just keep bothering them and they will eventually give in. That's at least what they did with us. If you have any other questions let me know! :D

Congratulations!!! I loved the pictures I'm not so worried about the bold colors of some of the rooms now feeling weddingish enough, I think your wedding turned out beautiful. Happy to hear and see you had a great time!

Caribbean-

Thank you so much! Yeah, I was worried about the same thing. I think some of the best pictures were on the main stairwell in the atrium and on the deck. Just anytime you feel you like the background or it's a great photo opportunity stop the photographer and let them know. That's what I did. If you have any other questions please let me know! :D
