Normally speaking the 8D will be 1 floor higher than the 8C. Thats all.

we are both on the same floor. my friend has 8c and I have 8D. They told me I was upgraded to 8D....but i don't see a difference.

The difference is the location, while an 8D will be midship, the 8C is located closer to the bow or the aft without being a true aft balcony.
