skiiergirl Posted April 15, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 15, 2004 ddean....I have been on AOS on this route 3 times and have never tendered at any of these ports (on AOS that is). I believe I read somewhere that there are a couple of times this year that ships have to tender in St. Maarten because of the large number of ships in port but I think that is later in the year (maybe during the holidays). J&SLowery Posted April 15, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 15, 2004 I've done both in St. Marteen. Last time we tendered was prior to the construction of the pier. In October, we are supposed to tender to St. Marteen from AOS. Go to the RCCL homepage and pull up your itinerary. It should display what the port schedule (docked v. tendered) is for your sailing. sscruising Posted April 15, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 15, 2004 I was on the AOS last August and the new dock was complete. You get off the dock and there are a few small shops there. However, if you want to go into town, you have to take the water taxi which is just another name for a tender. I believe the charge was $10 per person but you could go back and forth as many times as you wanted. It only takes less than 10 minutes each way. Punderful Posted April 16, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Just back from the 3/28/04 sailing of the AOS. No tenders at any of our ports of call: Aruba; Curacao; St. Maarten; St. Thomas. St. Maarten has a new mega-pier. You can get a water taxi to the old town pier (central Phillipsburg) for $3 one way or $5 unlimited all-day per person. You pay at the mega-pier dock, so if you take the water taxi from anywhere else and pay cash for a one-time trip (all day passes are wristbands) save your pink receipts. They check them three times when you get off to make sure you've paid.
