GTJ Posted October 30, 2008 #3 Share Posted October 30, 2008 I've used my scanner many times when traveling by railroad but have not done so by cruise ship. There seems to be a paucity of frequency information for cruise lines vis-à-vis railroads. Is there much radio traffic of interest on cruise ships? Only with substantial effort have I found the following frequencies for the Celebrity Mercury. 457.5500 Security 457.5750 Bridge/crew 457.6000 Hotel operations Are there any other on-board frequencies? Can anyone provide other frequencies of interest, such as those marine VHF radio channels used when entering or leaving ports? Our itinerary is as follows. San Diego, Calif., U.S.A. Cabo San Lucas, B.C.S., Mexico Acapulco, Gro., Mexico Huatulco, Oax., Mexico Puntarenas, Costa Rica Panama Canal transit Colon, Panama Cartagena, Colombia Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., U.S.A. ecps92 Posted April 1, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 1, 2009 Yes there is a lack [as they do not license] of Cruise Line [uHF] frequencies. Much of the information on my Pages have been from many Scannists [not just those taking a Cruise] who have been bitten by the SEARCH bug and like the search to find something new. Any confirmations or reconfirmation of frequencies is always appreciated as when ships move around [port - port, or coast - coast] they sometimes change channels around. As to other channels on-board? Likely. However some of the channels might not be used until: Life Boat Drills, Casino opens, etc I've used my scanner many times when traveling by railroad but have not done so by cruise ship.
