Poker on Conquest class

Hello fellow cruisers! My husband and I are off on the Conquest next week! He would love to play some poker in the casino but we haven't heard much about it. He was disappointed there wasn't more poker on the Ecstacy last year and is hoping for some good games this time around. Can a few of you seasoned cruisers (and fellow poker afficianados) help me out with some valuable information??? Are there games often? Tournaments? Any and All information is helpful!!! THANKS! :)

There's a poker pro table on Conquest. It was really busy last week, but we also had a group on board sponsored by a casino. Very busy. On other cruises they usually publish a start time so enough players can get together to fill the table.

I just put a review on my blog if you want to check it out.

Thanks, I read your blog. Good Conquest info... not much about the casino though :) On a regular cruise will he be able to get much poker in? He plays blackjack, too, but really enjoys poker. I'd like for him to be able to play...

I couldn't get a seat or I may have played more. They list about 3 meeting times for each sea day. Usually not a problem in the evening. He should be fine getting enough for a game.

In my opinion, the poker on the carnival ships is pretty lame. They all have 1 pokerpro table, and they usually spread 1-2 no limit hold'em. In April, they were running qualifiers for their big tournament in September or October on the Fantasy. That's over with now, so don't expect any tournaments. If he enjoys playing limit hold'em, the system is capable of switching from no-limit to limit. You have to ask the casino manager or the casino host to do this in the system, and everyone who is going to play has to agree to the change.

I play alot of limit hold'em. I'm not a big fan of no-limit, but I'll play it if I have to. If DH is really eager to play poker on a cruise ship, and doesn't care for no-limit like me, I'd suggest booking a cruise with Cardplayer Cruises. They set up their own poker tables with live dealers, and run a variety of games and limits. They run a great operation, and it is still a cruise.

Hope this helps.

I just got back from a Carnival cruise. One poker pro table. Always full, had to wait a long time to play. $1/$2 NL. One tournament $25 buy in... $100 1st, $60 2nd, $40 3rd with 5 minute blinds. Horrible structure, it was an all-in fest even though I won. Have fun!

I don't think he's gung ho enough to book a cruise solely for poker, but while trapped at sea, he certainly enjoys it. Unlike me, he isn't as excited about the sea days, he enjoys ports (he scuba dives)... I'm happy just hanging out on board and lounging at the beach on port days. So, yeah, if there are some games going he'll want to play. It's unfortunate they don't organize a poker tournament at least one day, though -- that could be a lot of fun!
