stunned Posted November 6, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 6, 2008 We just bought our first set of snorkeling gear for our cruise in November. What is the best way to clean the mask after each snorkeling adventure? Is it ok to wait until we get back to ship to wash it off with soap and water, or does it need rinsed right after use with something else? Also any suggestion of best off beach snorkeling in St. Kitts, Antigua or St. Thomas?

Also any suggestion of best off beach snorkeling in St. Kitts, Antigua or St. Thomas? Just give it a quick rinse with fresh water after the dive, then a good soak (10 minutes with an occasional shake / swirl) in fresh water on the ship. Soap is not really needed. If you are on a dive boat, avoid the boat rinse bucket - I do after seeing some of the stuff that goes into them.
Middleager Posted November 7, 2008 #3 Share Posted November 7, 2008 That's right. I always try to give my gears a quick rinse after. Then when I get back on ship, give it a more thorough wash/rinse while I shower.
stunned Posted November 7, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted November 7, 2008 Thanks, good to know not to use soap. Any ideas on which beaches we should go to for snorkeling?
excalwop Posted November 7, 2008 #5 Share Posted November 7, 2008 After getting back to the ship we wash our gear in the shower and hang them on the bal. to dry. Be sure to bring along a cord make a loop to hold the fins and some clothes pins to hold your booties. This is one reason why we get a bal cabin Paul
