Dunn's Falls (do on your own?)

We are sailing Freedom on Nov. 30th and at one of our stops we hope to do the Dunn's River Falls. From what we hear it is a must see!

My questions are:

Do you need to book a tour to do this or can you just get off the ship and take a taxi over to the falls?

If you get a guide at the falls, how much would it cost there?

If we do take a taxi to the falls, what are our chances of getting a taxi back to the ship? We don't want to be left without a way back!!

I have heard people say that they tell the taxi driver to come back at a certain time. Is this reliable and how do you know how long it will take you?

Please advise.........thanks!

Hi. We're sailing next week and have been to Jamaica before. We decided this time just to go to the Falls on our own, but we didn't really want to do it with just a taxi. Anyway, I found a shuttle service that works all day between the Falls and the cruise ships. I spoke to them yesterday and the guy was very professional and the was cheaper than anything else I found - $15 round trip. He told me that people usually spend about 1 1/2 - 2 hours at the Falls so there is plenty of time to go there. Check out their website www.dunnsrivershuttle.com . I'll post again when we return to let you know how it is.

We got a taxi from the pier (I think it was about $10) and spent the day at the falls on our own. It's $15 per adult entrance fee, but you can stay there all day if you like. It's a national park and there are guides in (blue shirts, I think) uniform that will guide you up the falls in groups. You just tip them when you're finisshed.

My two sons played in the falls for the whole day. They climbed up and down and waded in the pools.

There are a lot of taxis available outside the entrance for the trip back to the ship. Our taxi driver asked us what time we'd like to be picked up and he came back! He was on time! But if he didn't show, we just would've taken another.

We're headed to Jamaica this week and we plan on doing DRF again...on our own!

Is that $15 for the shuttle plus $15 for the admission at the falls?
