Rare YoPhilly Posted December 7, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2008 We were in St. Kitts the other day and took the Spirit of St. Kitts catamaran excursion through Princess. What a fantastic crew! They totally made the day lively and fun. The trip was supposed to go to Nevis for lunch, but Hurricane Omar (?) did quite a bit of damage there, so we snorkeled in ****ten Bay (phenomenal), then flew like a rocket under full sail to Cockleshell Bay for a lunch of jerk chicken. Cockleshell Bay beach is the Caribbean beach of days gone by. Completely undeveloped and unspoiled. There is one small restaurant/bar/shack and nothing else. A beautiful, beautiful curve of sand with clear, warm water.

A beautiful, beautiful curve of sand with clear, warm water. You must have been to a different Cockleshell Beach and bar than the one we went to last October. None of us liked that place! Of course, in all fairness, a hurricane had blown through just days before our arrival, so the beach was littered with debris from that. The bar & grill was disgustingly full of huge flies! We have a farm and are used to flies, but these were horrible! We had to keep knocking them off our food as we ate. Of course, the hog's presence probably contributes to the fly population. He was lying against the wall of the building when we were there. We weren't about to get in the water on that beach, because the whole place was just nasty. However, the rest of the tour was wonderful! We loved the fort and the Batik factory. Lots of breath taking views along the way, too. My best vacation pics came from St. Kitts. We toured with Thenford Grey, who is very knowledgeable and a great driver and very nice. We highly recommend Thenford for a great tour of St Kitts. It's just that we could have done without Cockleshell beach.....
