ddoc Posted December 23, 2008 #1 Share Posted December 23, 2008 as we won't have a car but can't get a flight from LAX until Monday afternoon. We'd like to do some sightseeing.
Curt Jerome Wild Posted December 24, 2008 #2 Share Posted December 24, 2008 Is that cruise ending/debarking on the Sunday? Also, time of year, and approximate budget make a difference... You say you won't have a car, but I can't tell if that means that you don't want to rent one... Do you want somewhere to stay where you get shuttles, but you can also do some walking distance or tour sightseeing? Let me know the answers to these, and I can help you out with specific info on hotels, sightseeing, and such.

ddoc Posted December 25, 2008 Author #4 Share Posted December 25, 2008 Pre cruise we will spend 3 nights in San Diego and will have a car as we land at LAX and need to get to San Diego. On returning from the cruise, it will be a Sunday and our flights are at noon time Monday. Unfortunately, this trip we need to ecomomize. We estimate that we will be off the ship by 11:00 AM. since we are from Pensylvania and have never been to southern California, all help is needed and appreciated. Both for before and after the cruise. Thanks

You'll likely have to pick a limited area of what you want to visit...and stay somewhere in that area... Some possibilities are: 1) Get a hotel in Santa Monica--in the Third Street, Ocean Avenue, Pier area...After the cruise, take a shuttle to the hotel, check in, then grab a cab or even the Big Blue Bus down to the Venice Boardwalk...stroll the boardwalk, then head back up to Santa Monica...take a stroll at Palisades Park and enjoy the view...then maybe the Santa Monica Pier...At night, find a restaurant near Third Street, then wander the Third Street Promenade at night and back to your hotel... With a noon flight on Monday, you'll have time to get some breakfast, check out and catch a shuttle to the airport... 2) Get a hotel at Universal City...shuttle there and spend the day at Universal, hit CityWalk at night...Monday shuttle to LAX...
