Delays on the Galveston bridge?

Recommended Posts

We are driving to Galveston for our May 30 cruise. We plan to drive from OKC to somewhere south of Dallas May 29 and then drive into the port on Saturday. I have read or heard that sometimes there is a delay because they open the bridge to allow boat through. Is this true? If so, how do you know when this happens? Thanks for any help.

You shouldn't have major delays on a Sunday morning traveling between Houston and Galveston. Most of the major roadwork on the bridge over the Causeway is done. It only took us 45 minutes to take my sister to Hobby Airport after our last cruise. Now, if you're driving to IAH that's going to take longer. It still shouldn't take 2 1/2 hours though.
