Hello again everyone! This will be tonight's last installment. I'll finish up tomorrow with our Fun Day at Sea and Disembarkation.

G'night all!:)

Day 2 Nassau

Finally woke up around 8:30 am after another refreshing sleep on Carnival bedding! After preparing for the day, I gathered up the clan and headed up to the Fantasy dining room for breakfast. At least while we were there that morning, only the port side of the room was used. Once again, parties were seated at tables by themselves, no group dining. Between the four of us, we sampled a good portion on the menu items. All were delicious, and the service was quick.

I continued my photo essay as we awaited our arrival in Nassau. We pulled into Nassau at 11:45 am, and docked next to Carnival Glory and Disney Wonder. Our tummies were requesting nourishment, so we returned to the Lido Deck for lunch. I foolishly passed up the chicken parmigiana (sp?) in the Seaview Grill, but the burger and fries were delicious anyways.

We headed into Nassau at 12:30 pm with no plans for anything spectacular. We enjoyed a stroll around the downtown area and took the kids through the straw market, just so that we could say we did. They agreed, it is a very crowded place! DROC! We picked up a few souvenirs, and then headed back to the ship. I had wanted to visit Atlantis just to mosy around, but our walking appendages were advising otherwise.

We were back on board around 2:45 pm. DW, DD and I lounged on the Lido deck until 4:30 pm, then we met up with DS. DD and I decided to hit the arcade, while DW and DS played cards with the nifty deck of Carnival playing cards I had picked up from the Purser’s Desk earlier that morning.

Before we knew it, it was time to get ready for our Elegant Evening. We strolled along Sensation Boulevard, fending off the hoards of blood (camera?) thirsty photographers. Not really:)…we found a simple “No, thank you” would suffice.

Attire in the dining room this evening was much more upscale than the previous night. We still saw some jeans, and other “less than dressy” clothing. But guess what? DROC! The food was delicious! I ordered the prime rib, and decided to try the lobster and shrimp combo again. Guess I’m just not a lobster…DW sure enjoyed the remainder of my lobster, but those shrimp were mine! :D DS didn’t dine with us, and requested that we bring him a fruit plate from the main dining room. We were surprised that our request was courteously declined, but again DROC.

After dinner, we ditched DD :D and went up to the Captain’s Party. Suffice it to say, the drinks were strong and plentiful. The bar staff gladly filled my request for a libation that was not on the tray. We stayed to see the officers and staff introduced.

Next stop on our tour was the casino. Now mind you, we’re not high rollers by any stretch of the imagination. So to walk in with $15, and walk out with $53 was tickling! That will make a nice deposit in our cruise savings account! We then headed back to the cabin to change into some more leisurely clothing.

Next, it was back to the Fantasia Lounge for the Newlywed Game. I must say, I truly appreciated how CD Paul Santely ran the game! I have seen CDs put people in uncomfortable, embarrassing, or worse, situations all in “good fun”. Paul did a wonderful job, even to the point of not forcing couples to participate if they didn’t want to. Judging by audience reaction, I think most of the folks probably felt as I did about Paul’s excellent execution of the game. We didn’t play the bingo afterwards, but one lucky sap took the entire $750 jackpot for himself!

Tia Thompson was up next with her show. She is a very talented individual and the audience enjoyed her show, it just wasn’t my “cup of tea”. DW and DS liked the show very much! Now Manuel Zuniga the juggler…that was a show I very much enjoyed again! He presents a well balanced combination of juggling and comedy.

After the shows we went up to the Lido Deck, where preparations were under way for the Mexican buffet. I grabbed a few nighttime photos, and we headed back to the cabin at 12:15 am.

So the "formal" night of the cruise is the night the ship is docked in Nassau the whole day? We are booked to go in August, and pull into Nassau on a Friday noon, and the ship leaves at 6 am on Saturday. I don't want to miss the "formal" night, but did want to spend a significant amount of time at Atlantis.

You are correct. I much preferred when Sensation docked early in the morning.:(

Unfortunately, one almost has to choose between one or the other.

What does "DROC" mean? Sorry, I'm not able to figure it out?

Thanks for the review!

Sorry...that is a carry-over from the first portion of my review. It stands for "Didn't Ruin Our Cruise". We make the absolute most of our cruises, and don't sweat the small stuff.

FL Cruiser - correct me if I'm wrong, but you were on the 3 day cruise, correct? That would mean that technically, the elegant night was the second night and not necessarily the Nassau day - only to keep those informed that are taking the 4 day cruise.

3 days = second night = Nassau

4 days = second night = Freeport

I hope this didn't confuse anyone.

Yes, we were on the 3 day cruise. And you are absolutely correct about Elegant Night!
