Pharmacy in Progresso

There are pharmacies all up and down calle 80, the main road at the Casa de Cultura, progreso - running north and south. Be sure to know the generic names of what you are looking for and strengths.

If you wait until you get to Cozumel, there is a pharmacy called the American Pharmacy, or something like that. It is owned by an American guy who is very knowledgeble, and funny too. If your ship is docked at the pier in front of Senor Frogs/Carlos N Charlies, go left on the sidewalk a few blocks. I can't remember exactly which street it is on, but it's not far. At each block, just look up the street and the pharmacy is a couple of doors up on the left. You will see the sign.

Generally items will be less expensive in Progreso than in Cozumel but I can not say for meds.

 

I have seen several pharmacies within easy walking from where you get off of the bus.

Are there any rules on purchasing medication in Mexico and bringing it back on the ship? I would love you but some ABX to have on hand.

Unlike what we hear about the border towns, you can't walk into a pharmacy in the state of Yucatan and buy anything you like. Write down what the name of your medication is, especially if there is a generic name, the dosage, etc., and just ask at any pharmacy.
