Embarkation efficiency / timing in San Juan?

I'm sailing on a Carnival cruise from the pier in OSJ, and normally what I've done in the past for a cruise is not show up at the pier until an hour after embarkation begins so I can avoid the crowd. This has worked fairly well in the past. Given that embarkation begins at around 2:30, is San Juan's embarkation process fairly organized to where I can walk on at 3:30 no problem, or is it a busy mess to where I should wait even longer? I have read some crazy stories about disembarking taking forever so I thought I'd check on this actual embarkation process to better plan my day.
