I think we want to spend the day sunning, swimming and snorkelling... What is the best beach and best way to get there? We are leaving on Sunday on the Carnival Miracle and we are very excited! I appreciate any input...

I think Anse Coshoon (SP) is one of the beaches highly recommended by Serenity Tours. Try calling their toll free number for more information. They are right on the island and so should be able to tell where is the best place to get some good sun, swim and snorkel. Their number is 1 866 766 0794.

Anse Cochon is the correct spelling. Island Divers can set you up with a nice day there (http://www.islanddiversstlucia.com/), complete with lunch, equipment, if needed, transportation between Pt. Seraphine (the pier in Castries) and Anse Cochon in their dive boat, chairs and umbrellas on the beach... We've used them several times.

We have all of our own gear, too. Yes, if you get there on your own, you can just get in the water (but not use the loungers and umbrellas). There's no entrance fee if you get there on your own, but it's not easy to get there on your own. If a taxi takes you there, I think you'd have to walk through Ti Kaye Village Resort to get to the beach (down a long set of stairs from the resort), and I'm not sure they'd let you do that. If you got a boat to drop you off on the beach, no problem.
