Hobiecat01 Posted March 26, 2009 #1 Share Posted March 26, 2009 I am a bit puzzled by the actual course the the Oasis will be traveling on the Eastern Caribbean itinerary. The ports are St. Thomas, St. Maartin, Nassau. But by what course? I see the RCCL website has a mapped course to the east of Cuba and Haiti/DR... what we all know as the traditional Eastern Caribbean course down through the Bahamas. But I also keep seeing course maps leaving Ft. Lauderdale traveling west around the southern side of Cuba and Haiti/DR arriving in St. Thomas, St. Maartin and returning to Nassau on the traditional Atlantic course. DW would greatly prefer the around Cuba course since the waters are much more calm in the Caribbean itself (and the sunsets... just gorgeous). I have not plotted out the actual number of nautical miles via each course but I could see both courses being viable depending on the speed of the ship. Any comments? Just wondering... ------------------------ Sea ya! tazdeb Posted March 26, 2009 #2 Share Posted March 26, 2009 I wouldn't go by the little map on the web site. I think they will take the course that will allow them to go as slow (economically) as possible and still stay on schedule. I don't think going west to go east meets this criteria.
