Sweet Home Alabama Posted November 30, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 30, 2004 We are planning a celebrity cruise next year leaving from Brcelona and flying back from Venice. I have heard that we do not need to clear customs there. We are frequent travelers in the carribbean and clearing customs is such a drag. Can you leave the ship a any time? how does it work? thanks
spongerob Posted November 30, 2004 #2 Share Posted November 30, 2004 US Customs operates in some foreign airports. If you do not clear Customs and CSIS when you board your return flight, you will have to do so when you land. There's no avoiding it.
kitty9 Posted November 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2004 You will need to clear Spanish and Italian Customs when you arrive and depart each of those countries. When you fly into Barcelona, it's just like any other foreign city where you will have to fill out their Immigration card and then have your passport checked. When you leave out of Marco Polo Airport in Venice, you will again have to go through an Immigration line to have your passport checked and stamped as leaving the country. When you arrive in the US, you will again go through both US Immigration and Customs Inspections. In the US, you stand in line for US Immigration where they look at your passport and may ask questions about where you've been, you pick up your luggage and then go through Customs Inspection where you hand in your Customs form.
