Adding a picture? Customizing the "avatar"?

Could someone kindly tell me how to add an image to my signature AND how to customize my avatar(using an image not from their stock images)

Here are the directions for a signature picture, and below that, the directions for an avatar. That is the picture under your name..
[B]SIGNATURE DIRECTIONS.[/B]
This may help you to find the signatures.
Go to this website below. It has thousands of gifs you can use for your signature, or a picture, etc. When you find the one you want, right click and copy what is in the ADDRESS BOX. Go back to CRuise Critics, and click on the MY SPACE, then PROFILE, then go to your signature box. Click in the signature box until the line flashes. Paste the information from the address box that you copied.
When it is pasted in the signature box of your profile, you must type this before the http, [img], and this after the end of the sentence. [/img] If you do not type these two things before and after, it will not work. There are many of us who can help you if you have a problem. I personally like the site called,
Keith's animated signatures.

[B]AVATAR DIRECTIONS[/B]
This is if you want a custom avatar or a special picture, (like my mouse) and not the ones they offer you.
First you have to find a picture that you would like to use for your avatar. Search the web for avatars, or use any picture that you like. Any size picture can be used because when you put it into the avatar box it will shrink to fit.
If the picture has to much detail or is to "busy" it will be difficult to see. You should search for an avatar of maybe one person, animal, or thing, etc.
Once you find what you want, right click on it and COPY what is in the address box.
Go to MY SPACE, and then PROFILE and scroll down to the avatar place. Where it say's EDIT AVATAR, click on it. When the site comes up, click CUSTOM AVATAR.
A box will open where it say's USE CUSTOM AVATAR. Click in the space until you see the blinking line. PASTE your copied information from the address bar in it. Hit PREVIEW and you should see the picture you have selected. If it is correct, hit SELECT THIS ONE. Scroll to the bottom of the page and hit SUBMIT.
