Hi will be in Nagasaki on the Volendam 10/12/09. Would like to use tram system to get around.

Can we get the all day ticket right at the nearby tram stop. Have heard you need to get at hotel front desks???

Anyone that used the tram from the cruise ship pier I would love your pointers to make it easy going.

Thanks

Ed

Every thing in Nagasaki including the H Bomb Museum which is divided into 3 parts within one small area. The Museum is made up of 2 parks and the actual museum can be seen from easy access from the Tram.

Its worth riding all lines on the tram just to take in the local culture. You may find that you can buy a all day pass from the ships side if their is a information desk there otherwise its the Main Rail Station Tourist Office.

The other must is the home of John Glover ie Glover Gardens.

Hi Ed and Donna

we were recently in Nagasaki onboard the Queen Victoria.

We also used the trams to get around - this worked out a lot cheaper than the ships tours and we also beat the crowds.

When we arrived at the port there was an information desk set up inside the dock area. They sold the all day pass inside this room as well as a money exchange. The one thing we wished we had done was to change more money as finding an ATM was not easy. Also the main tourist attractions do not have ATM's nor do the accept credit cards or American Dollars so you really need local currency.

When you buy your pass it comes with a map which shows the main tourist attractions and also the tram stop applicable to them - these stops are numbered so you have no problems working out where to get off as you can see the number at each stop along the way. It was very easy to use. There is a tram stop very close to the port gate.

The main tourist attractions are close to each other - the museum was well worth a visit - very sobering.

Enjoy your visit to Nagasaki.
