wolfatlga Posted April 21, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 21, 2009 Greetings.. We are going on the Legend in October and I was hoping someone might have taken this shore excursion thru Carnival and would be willing to share their thoughts on this excursion. Thanks.. Rochmom Posted April 21, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 21, 2009 Hi! My family did the dolphin encounter at Anthony's Key last August. We had a great time and felt that it was well worth the expense. I've seen a lot of posts about booking excursions independently, but it was our first cruise, and we felt more comfortable staying with Carnival sponsored things. For the encounter, we took a shuttle bus to the resort, which was about a 25 min. ride. We then took a small boat to a small island in the harbor, where we had time to use rest rooms (change into suits if needed), and listened to a short set of instructions. We walked down to the shore area, and went into water about waist deep. The group of about 16 was divided into two, and each group was met by a trainer with a dolphin. The trainer/dolphin did several tricks, and swam close enough for us to pet the dolphin, feel her teeth, etc. Then the group of 8 got into groups of two, and each pair got to "hold" the dolphin while she posed for a photos, and each person got a kiss from the dolphin. A professional photographer took pictures. After everyone had a turn, we were free to watch more tricks and take photos of our own. After that, we dried off and took the little boat back to the main area. By then, the professional photographer had the pictures loaded up to a digital platform, and we could purchase individual pictures, or a cd with all of the photos of our family on it. The cd price was extremely cheap, and the photos were high quality. After that, we went on to Tabyana Beach for the rest of the afternoon. This was the favorite day of the trip for the whole family.
