Atlantis waterpark??

Recommended Posts

Hi, doing the Jun 14 4-day cruise.

Questions: Is the waterpark really worth $160plus PP?

--as a shore excursion

I tried calling Atlantis & if you go there on your own- it will cost $110 PP, 4-12 yrs (only $80)

Space available

Any suggestions or comments?

We will do WDWorld (4 days prior)

Thanks

G

You may want to look into actually booking a room at Atlantis for one night - it may end up being less expensive than paying DCL's price. Depending on the date you will be there, sometimes Atlantis runs some good promos. Also look into pricing for the Comfort Suites located across the street from Atlantis - if you book a room there, you each also receive a bracelet allowing full access to Atlantis. A lot of cruisers do it this way - you can check in early and receive your bracelets and check out at the same time if you don't plan on using the room at all, or if you want to use the room for showering, napping, etc., you can check out later in the day before returning to the ship.

Booking yourself is really very easy and much cheaper. We have done this 3 times. Once Atlantis and twice Comfort Suites. Price was always the deciding factor. Even though check in gives a specfic time, cruisers use the hotels all the time and check in can be when you arrive. Taxis are always ready to take you and to bring you back.

We have used the room for nap time and shower afterwards.

Check out the Bahamas thread for more info. There is lots of info there.

We stayed a week at Atlantis a couple of years ago and found that the water park was okay, but very crowded all day and the lines were so long that it took away from the fun. We had the intentions of using the water slides all day long, but in actuality only got to use a couple of them a couple of times. The lazy river was nice, but short and very crowded all day. The water on their beach is AMAZING!!

One tip, don't plan on going in to grab a quick bite while at Atlantis. The food prices are HORRIBLY EXPENSIVE and the casino ups the bids and antes when the ships are in port. There is a "Food plan" that they try to sell you when you check in, but it is not worth it. They limit you to which restaurants you can use and when you can eat. We figured it up, and after flying there, staying 7 days at Atlantis, and eating; we could have sailed on the Disney Magic 3 times back to back and still had change.

I have stayed at Atlantis several times, great place to stay. I do not think that the water park is worth that kind of price, I was shock to find out that it cost that much. It is a nice park but not anywhere near as good as the theamed water parks around the United States.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I will look at the hotels. We are 3 adults & 2 kids. I wonder if we can do just 1 room also.

No, they won't allow you to do one room because that will only give you 4 braclets not 5. :( And yes, it's the braclets you need to access the water park AND beach at Atlantis.

There are a couple of other things to do in Nassau. Visit the Nassau Port of Call board here and look at the other things to do.

When we went on Disney Wonder, we did the Blackbeard's Cay Stingray Adventure (my youngest was 4 at the time). THAT was awesome.

All of my info about Atlantis, Blackbeards AND Castaway Cay is here...

Thanks for the info & the link! Read your site-great info!

I guess the perfect group no is 4. We are a party of 5. My friend is new to this & not really willing to do the room thing. Even comfort inn was approx $250 with add'l charges - (1 Adult & 1 Child) extra charges exist for more adults (it seems - approx $40).

Think "they" have caught on....

Thing is I'm not "A" water person... I need my shade. I rather spend $400 plus on Gucci :D At least I have something to show. Last time we were at Atlantis for a day we spent approx $14 for 1 order of nuggets (no drink included). (that was 2002)

Even touring the med this summer with lousy exchange rates, was not half as bad! Sorry just my opinion.

Don't apologize, I have the same feeling. ;) The price is just getting more and more outrageous.

I am a water person though, so I have lots of options in Nassau. :D And I love the sun. So I don't know what I would do in Nassau if I wanted to avoid the water and the sun.

Maybe you can find a fake gucci in the straw market. HAHAHAHAHAHA :p

We spent the money and rented a room at the Comfort Inn so we could have access to the water park. Don't waste your money! If you have ever been to one of the waterparks at Disney -- they are just as good if not better for a lot less money. The lines are long and there really aren't that many "rides". The area itself is very beautiful, and the resort is breathtaking -- walk around inside and look up -- the glass chandeliers are chiluly glass -- beautiful!

Whatever you do -- enjoy!

We did the day pass thru Atlantis and taxi'd to/from. The one thing that we were warned about was making sure you hailed your cab early enough as the traffic in Nassau can get crazy around 5:00. If you're late and not on a Disney tour, wave good bye to the ship! There was a little cafe' outside near the pool that I remember being quite tasty, burgers, etc. The pigeons were a nuisance! though!

I'm glad we did it. The lazy river was amazing. Never been on one quite so "exciting"! The flume rides were breathtaking. I probably wouldn't do it again but no regrets here! Also included in the day pass is the aquarium which is quite impressive.

Enjoy!

Okay, I may have misspoke re. the aquarium. I can't remember if we paid extra to go but ask the Atlantis people if included.

The Aquarium aka "The Dig" is included in the Day Pass - the one for $108 and the one for "hotel guests"

You were right. :D

Can someone clarify something here -- You can either (A) reserve a hotel room at comfort suites & enjoy water rides, beaches in Atlantis or (B) don't reserve hotel but buy a 1 day pass to tour Atlantis..how much does the this 1 day pass cost per adult/kid. What does this pass include access too?

I don't want to give you any misinformation, so I will not directly answer your question. But if you go to the Ports of Call threads and click on Bahamas you will definitely find the answers to your questions many times over. Also Scubagirrl is a great source of information. Again you can contact her on the Port of Call-Bahamas. If you put her name in the subject of the thread she will definitely respond.

I am really glad that we did the Atlantis excursion because my boys had such a great time. It is not a GREAT waterpark but it is ATLANTIS. It was raining the day we went and there was nobody there. We didn't have to fight the lines. It created great memories for them and they say it was one of their highlights of the trip.
