Things to do in Miami....

Well, considering you'll only have about 5-hours or so, and you have to allow for security screening at a VERY busy Miami airport...

Plan A: if you get off a ship by 10, you could rent a car (storage for your luggage) and do what you want, such as drive around Hollywood (fla) looking at $5 million homes, or go to South Beach for a couple of hours, or drive to Key Largo and beach it for an hour...

Plan B: You could go immediately to the airport, check in (and your luggage), and then take a cab to...where-ever...and then a cab back - by then you will have paid the price for a rental car...but you will have to carry-around your tickets with you....Due to security issues, most airports have done-away with storage lockers...

Plan C: after having been cruising for a week or so, you may not be up for the hassle of Plan A or B...chill-out at the airport, get in touch with folks via phone or internet...

If you are that interested in the Miami area, you might check with the airline to see if you can take a later flight - to give you more time...for Plan A...

Just some thoughts...I can sympathize - when we were in Hawaii, we got off the ship at 9:30 and was in Honolulu Airport by 10:00 for our 2:30 flight...it was pretty tiresome waiting in the airport, but we got to buy some last minute gifts and CDs to listento on the way home.. If I had to do it again, since the next day is shot anyways, take a late flight out in order to spend time in the local area... a lesson learned...

Not sure what cruise line you are on but many have post-cruise tours. On Carnival, there was an excellent one to South Beach that basically provided transportation and kept your luggage. You were on your own but many people took advantage of it. Since you are on a tour, you would get off the ship early and probably would have 3 hours or so just to walk around and enjoy the sites before they take you to the airport.
