LoloA Posted July 17, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 17, 2009 As I have booked a tour at Ufiizi at 10 am. when I go to the trenitalia site to book the ticket for say the 8:11 train, it states cannot book at this time? Any suggestions? or do I just take my chances at the Livorno/citivechia station?
ab0si Posted July 17, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 17, 2009 That train is not reservable. Basically, it is first come, first served. You buy a ticket and decide which train to take. If all the seats are full, you stand. So, there is no reason to buy the ticket in advance.
GSPLover Posted July 17, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 17, 2009 As a previous post stated, advanced booking is not required. Trains on these corridors are regionale (mostly 2cl) and have no reserved seats. You can purchase tickets up to 60 days in advance (if you so desire) in order to 'beat the lines". However, this is really not necessary! Regionale trains are almost always 2cl. Ticket gives you a right of passage (no seat guarantee)! In short, you'll get to your destination - but the trip (if the train is crowded (rare)) - you won't be comfortable!
LoloA Posted July 17, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted July 17, 2009 thank you for the previous posts. the moral of the story is wear comfy shoes cause you may be standing a long time!
CoralReef Posted July 17, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 17, 2009 This May, the 7:30 from Livorno to Florence was practically empty. I am sure you would find a seat on the 7:43 or 8:11 as well. The 2:27 return was very crowded, but everyone did eventually find a seat.
