BurBunny Posted July 20, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2009 Please tell me what part of Stockholm the ship docks and the best ways to travel from there to Djurgaren to see the Vasa Musseet and Skansen. Did you need Swedish currency to use public transportation or would euro do? It may depend on your sailing date, but the next Journey arrival is scheduled at berth V523 VÄRTAHAMNEN, which is near Frihamnen, and is the main docking area for the town, but a bit separated from the main tourist areas. http://194.52.202.65/evant.htm I found the best way to get around are the hop-on, hop-off ferry boats, which run between Frihamnen, the Old Town, Vasa and Skansen, among other stops. Since Stockholm is a series of islands, and so water-oriented, it's a great way to see these main areas, convenient and fairly inexpensive. http://www.stromma.se/en/Sightseeing/Stockholm/Boat-tours/Hop-on-Hop-off/ I do seem to remember getting Kronas when I arrived, but I was on a Baltic-oriented cruise where Euros were the exception rather than the rule. Not sure I tried using Euros, so perhaps someone else can help there.
DougYWG Posted July 21, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 21, 2009 The dock is a bit out of town. However, we walked and it took 35 minutes to the Vasa museum. This is one of the points for picking up the HOHO boat, which is a good way to get around the downtown/touroid sites. HOHO doesn't go anywhere near the cruise dock. We bought some SEK just to see us through the day.
