What was the encounter between a ship and a whale just now on the news?

It showed a picture of part of a whale (I could tell it was a humpback) and part of a hull of a ship, but I did not hear what port, what cruise line or the circumstances. What happened? This was on tv CNN around noon Central time.

It was on a Princess ship sailing between Vancouver and Alaska.

Here's a link to several news report on the incident.

It has been given a proper burial at sea.

Hope this answers your question

Cheers

Dennis

After due deliberation I have logically deduced the whale was culpable

- not Princess. The whale was attacking the ship, so therefore, the captain can rightfully claim he rammed the whale in self defense.

I foresee Princess will file suit against Green Peace. With the whaling ban the whales are becoming increasingly dangerous, aggressive and an extreme threat to mariners. ;)
