I'm not sure about your questions but some people on cc said to get a day pass through comfort suites and you'll get at good deal - I'm sure someone on board can help you out more- The atlantis seems great, but never been there.

Thanks and I did a lil more research on the Atlantis...

Looks like they dont do day passes on peak season times to keep the area less crowded for overnight guest. :(

cruisedrinker......What the other poster was talking about was booking a room at the Comfort Inn in Nassau on Paradise Island. CI is right next door to Atlantis. The room rental at CI includes full use of the facilities at Atlantis, including pools, slides, etc. There are other ways to get on the property, but most don't allow use of the pools, etc.

If you check out the Bahamas board here on CC, you'll find lots of good info on Atlantis and Nassau in general. :)

The Atantis resort, is a definite place to visit. We stayed there a few years ago, and it is still our favourite on land vacation.

You will need some type of pass to gain access to the grounds, a lot of people book a room at the Comfort Inn, so they have access to Atlantis.

You're going to get off the ship?

The best time to enjoy the amenities of the ship is when everyone else gets off to visit the crowded and noisy tourist traps...imho.

just kidding...sort of.

Back in June, we did not do a day pass but rather just went to Atlantis. You can dine in any of the restaurants. We had a great lunch overlooking all the yachts that were moored. We shopped in a couple of the shops and of course, I used the Casino.

I believe that when i was in Nassau with Carnival, you could see the atlantis from the port. I can't imagine that RCI would go to a different port. I'll see you onboard on the 24th.

Ya I never been to Nassau before and look foward to it!

Wahoo so excited, will be my 3rd cruise and 1st one with RC and my girlfriends 2nd cruise.

Does anyone know the port in Nassau, Bahamas is near the Atlantis resort? I seen it on tv and would love to check that place out.

:D I may be on the same cruise with my friends -we try to do a girl's cruise annually and everyone wants to cruise the end of April, sooo it would be April 24th 2010. But, I am not booking the group just yet. I want to wait until RCI WOW sale usually in October. We are leaning towards RCI's Oasis as opposed to the new Carnival Dream. Oh--in Nassau you can take a taxi to the Atlantis--it is beautiful! We did that on our first girl's cruise that went to Nassau on the old Soverign of the Seas.

I've heard that RCC is a little more strict on their attire for dinner in the MDR. Can anyone confirm this. I just got off a carnival ship and other than "formal" night, almost everyone was in shorts and a polo shirt except me because I packed for "business casual' on other nights from formal. The lighter i can make my suitcase, the better...Thanks for your replies and i'll look forward to meeting you onboard in 248 days...

I was looking into booking this trip for April 24, 2010. Right now, the balcony is going for $1300. Do you think the price will lower? They say it's better to book way in advance. I love everything about this ship. This will be my 3rd RC cruise.

Also, I went on a Carnival cruise back in May and did the Atlantis excursion. I believe RC has a similar excursion, but with RC you have less time spent there and it's more expensive. The excursion gives you access to the waterpark, the aquariums, and access to the beach. Also a lunch voucher. My boyfriend and I had alot of fun there. Because we only had about 6 hours there, we vowed to take a vacation where we can spend more time, stay on the property.

This from RC website:

Shorts, T-shirts, and bathing suits are not considered appropriate attire in the dining rooms at dinner. Casual dress dining is available nightly in the Windjammer Cafe. And be aware you'll also need smart casual attire for some of our specialty restaurants.

I personally dress up for formal night of course, but other nights I just wear a nice set of jeans and buttoned up shirt or a polo some nights.

Past cruises I have seen people wear shorts, well atlest the last cruise on Carnival I did. I dont think i seen anyone on Holland America, not that I recall.

Counting them days

If you can I would say the Embassy Suites on 17th. ask for a east facing window up high and you will get a great view of the port. We sat there everythime we cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale. It is nice because there is a store right behind the hotel you can walk right to incase you forget something. Also there are some good places to grab a bit to eat that night. Hotel comes with cooked to order breakfast and free drinks at night for 2 hours so it is well worth it. We normaly just get up get a cup of coffie and repack for the cruise and the instead of take thier shuttle we take a cab so we can go when we want to. hope this helps
