Venice - early embarkation - any advice on handling the time

Hi

We are booked on Quest on Oct 7 - that is the date we board her in Venice, but she is not scheduled to leave till late on the 8th.

I am wondering if past travellers on this itinerary have any advice on handling the full day plus.

We will have spent several days in Venice prior to the 7th - so would you recommend we board early and unpack then leave the ship for the rest of the day.... or board late in the day, stay aboard for the rest of the first day and then go back into town on the morning of the 8th? Or are there other options that worked for recent cruisers?

I think boarding as early as they will allow will be easiest, as you will be rid of your luggage for the rest of the day after that, no matter what else you decide to do.
