Star Princess-Snorkeling at Palancar Reef

My DH and I are sailing on Star Princess on March 27/05 and have heard that snorkeling in Cozumel is a must. Our plan is to have the girls go to their Club in the morning while we go snorkeling. We want to pick them up around lunch and head out to Chank. Park on our own for the afternoon.

 

Question: Does anyone know the hours of the snorkeling? Is there snorkeling in the morning and if so, approximately when? Palancar Reef is supposed to be amazing - has anyone gone on this excursion with the ship? How was it?

 

We were thinking of snorkelling at Dzul-Ha on our own, but we want a definite time frame so that we are brought back to the ship at a particular time to get the girls.
