lavalcruiser Posted September 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2013 Hi, my husband and I will be in Boston on Saturday Sept. 29th for the day. We would like to book a tour on a trolley bus, but we hesitate between the different tours available. My favourites are Old Town Trolley Tours and Boston Upper Deck Trolley Tours, mainly because of the proximity to the harbour and the number of stops. Did anyone use one of these companies recently ? One of my concerns is that we will be there on a Saturday. Will the trolley be crowded and what about the traffic in Boston. Any comments will be appreciated. Thank you. wandb Posted September 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 14, 2013 I'm wondering about the same concerns. We will be there on the following day---Sunday the 30th. Would love to hear anyone's suggestions for which company is the best. Do I need to book ahead of time? How likely that on a weekend, we might by able to just walk up and get tickets? Thanks!! lavalcruiser Posted September 14, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted September 14, 2013 Wandb : Looks like we have to make our own decision :) Here is a recent review I found : ''Boston: Took the superducks hop-on hop-off tour which cost $31 per person. Excellent tour (these buses have a panoramic view of the city compared to the Old town trolley tours that RCL sales on-board). You can buy the tickets as soon as you disembark at the pier'' That's the one I had in mind, because of the ''Upper bus''. Also you don't get a special price if you book on line, so we can wait to make our decision. Good luck for your search :)
CaribbeanBound Posted September 15, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2013 We've done Beantown and Old Town. You'll enjoy either. Don't care about the traffic. They're driving.
Traveling Library Posted September 15, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 15, 2013 I live in the metro Boston area. I will only drive in downtown on the weekend whem traffic is "light". Enjoy the city. Lots to see and lots of history.
