  1. Fabulous location. Great choice. Walking distance to Gaudi masterpieces on Passeig de Gracia and to Plaza Catalunya.
  2. Yes, Sounion. A beautiful temple in a gorgeous setting by the sea. Not much else there, but there are beaches and tavernas on the way. If you are still allowed in the ruins, you can see Lord Byron's graffiti carved on a column. It is also the place where Aegeus jumped into the sea which was named after him. The last time we were there we were actually staying at the airport Sofitel. We had arrived in the afternoon and had a very early morning flight to the islands. We had George's pick us up, go to Sounion, had dinner by the beach, watched the sunset and back to the hotel.
  3. You could book a transfer with georgestaxi.com and have them drive you to Sounion and then to the airport. You can include lunch at a beach taverna. Four hours are plenty of time for all of that.
  4. Santorini: Akrotiri, Pyrgos, beaches, Fira Athens: Acropolis, Plaka, National Archaeological Museum, Acropolis museum. Forget about Sounion, it's too far. Katakolon: Olympia - a must.
  5. Let them know your flight number. They will be waiting for you.
  6. Look at the pinned thread above. Look at post #337 on page 14 for recommendations and awards from Italy's top food magazine. Wherever you pick, reserve asap.
  7. Yes, there are many taxi stands in Rome and thousands of taxis. Your hotel will point you to the closest line or call you one. Google maps will also show taxi stands. You can also flag them on the street. Most rides will cost you between 10 and 15 euros.
  8. @NCteacherlovescruising Do you still have a flight to Madrid, then a flight BCN-FCO, or are you flying directly to FCO? We were talking a while back about complicated flight itineraries. I forget what you decided to do. If directly to FCO, even changing flights in the US, I would agree on checking, especially when you are going to be six days in Rome after the flight. They will get the bags to you at the hotel. My only concern would be if we had tight connections or if we were moving to a different location or ship the next day. Going home we always check the suitcases. Having said all of that, we just flew to Florida. We checked two identical bags at the same time. One went on our flight, the other one went on the following flight, so we had to sit at the airport to wait for it. Go figure. (Other than that, we have never had any problems checking bags.) Make sure you put airtags in your bags whether you check them or not. The Clarins would probably be cheaper in Europe than here. Check the prices as suggested above in amazon.it.
  9. I think the OP is taking a ship's tour that ends in Fira and needs to take the cable car down. Chances are they tender to Athinios and only return from Fira. AFAIK - ship excursions provide the return ticket for the cable car.
  10. For sure they have it. Check out the pharmacies as you walk past them. Specific items may be available in different stores. Also look for a "profumeria" or perfume store. They also carry beauty supplies. I even think I saw a Sephora somewhere in Rome.
  11. Your tour guide will give you a ticket which should be included in the tour price. Then you stand in line. No numbers, no calls, just wait your turn in line. You know it's your turn to get on when you get to the car.
  12. Frankly, Barcelona is not the place for flamenco. Tapas, yes. However, if the OP is not going to Andalusia, a one hour show is enough to satisfy their curiosity. If possible, an earlier show would be best to leave the evening free for tapeo and dinner. (Tapeo = going out for tapas)
  13. The sardana is danced every Sunday at 11 am in front of the Cathedral.
