  1. Are they serving drinks? Is that why there is no Happy Hour that night? LOL, I need to know these things!!
  2. Ladies, what is a Solo IV room? I'm new to Celebrity. Thanks!!
  3. When you indicate only one passenger, it usually doubles your cruise fare (you're paying for the first AND second passenger). But Royal's current sale is for 75% off the second passenger. My starting fare for the 9-day Constellation cruise was $3,480. But I had over $2,300 in discounts. I booked through my TA, so she makes sure I benefit from Florida resident discounts, etc. I booked my 4-night Celebrity Reflection cruise on November 16 last year - when I priced it for a solo online, it was only around $687. By the time I chose my room and the additional taxes and fees were added, it came to about $820. They also had the classic beverage program, premium Wi-Fi, and Coco Beach Club passes on sale, so I took advantage of those lower prices, as well.
  4. Hi, I'm new to Celebrity. I have two cruises booked. I booked my first, a four-day Reflection cruise for late September, last year just prior to Black Friday. There was a really good sale. I booked my second cruise today, having received an email advertising 75% the second passenger. I'm cruising solo, so theoretically, this should mean I'm paying 1.25X the original double-occupancy fare. I checked out an itinerary and was pleased with the price. So I booked a 9-day New Orleans/Caribbean cruise out of Tampa for late November in an oceanview stateroom for about $159/night including gratuities as well as taxes, fees, and port expenses. I feel that's a great rate for a solo cruise! I would prefer a balcony but the base rate was going for an additional $800 .
  5. Hi, I'm new to Celebrity. I have two cruises booked right now, and should be coming in at Elite level due to my loyalty status with Royal. Can you tell me what is "Captain's Night"? Thanks!!
  6. I'm new to Celebrity (I cruise Royal Caribbean quite a bit) and just booked my second cruise with them. I booked the Reflection (four-day Key West/Coco Cay in late September) in a pre-Black Friday sale last year at a fantastic price for a solo traveler. Yesterday, I got an email from Celebrity advertising 75% off the second passenger on select cruises. I checked out the pricing for a solo passenger on the Constellation for a nine-day cruise from Tampa to New Orleans/Western Caribbean at the end of November that came to about $141/day. I consider that a GREAT value, so I booked it. I think that deals can be found if you look for them! I'm recently retired so my schedule is pretty flexible - that doesn't hurt!
  7. Thanks for the heads-up. I saw an email from AmEx in my mailbox today but hadn't opened it. I already made the first payment on the cruise I booked today, but I have another one with a balance due in just over a week, so I will definitely use the AmEx card for that!!
  8. Thanks - as long as I can make it to Giovanni's by 12:30, I'm good with that! What deck do you actually enter the ship? I know there's an escalator to Deck 5, just below Giovanni's.
  9. There is a wine bar called "Trellis Bar" in front of Chops Grille in Central Park. They also have a small "Bites" menu.
  10. My boarding time isn't until noon, but I had made a lunch reservation at Giovanni's for 12:30. Concerned about getting hung up in a long line for security. So I'm going to plan to get there closer to 11 AM and hope that they'll at least let me get through security if I show them my lunch reservation.
  11. I believe that the "Wizard of Oz" show includes a 16-piece show band, so it's possible that the band is going to be doing their own show. Maybe the show isn't ready, though?
  12. I have watched countless videos of the Icon and there does seem to be a pretty large area on Deck 16 (Chill Island) with covered seating. I'm also a fan of shade, so I pay attention to these things. I'm cruising on the Icon on May 18, so I'll be able to get a first-hand take on this, though!
  13. I live in Orlando and nearly every day I get a news alert on my phone about a shooting somewhere in the vicinity. But most of these shootings are domestic-related, or late at night when there is probably some shady stuff going down anyways... but now you know in case you want to steer clear!
