firstplacechef Posted December 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 25, 2013 We're on the Christmas cruise and having a blast. Weather much better today at Honfleur. Rainy Christmas Eve in Rouen. Normandy beaches tomorrow with temps in 40's and partly cloudy. Full review when we return.
WarEagle76 Posted December 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 25, 2013 Glad you are enjoying it as know you've been looking forward to it for many months. Think you will find the day in Normandy very moving. Just got back yesterday from Viking's Heart of Germany cruise and had a great time. Looking forward to your review when you get back. War Eagle! pacmom Posted December 27, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2013 After all the planning, here you are sailing on the Seine--first European river we sailed in 2002. So glad you are enjoying your trip. Pat
lovescruisingbc Posted December 29, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 29, 2013 So glad you are enjoying the Cruise - we have just booked this for next Christmas - leave Paris Dec 21, and return Dec 28. Unless there is a change in the schedule it looks like our Christmas Eve will be in Rouen, with Normandy Beaches on Christmas Day. Even though it is a year away, we are very excited. Have travelled Viking once before and loved it - so much more intimate than the mega-cruise ships! Looking forward to hearing about your experiences - three questions... 1. Were you able to visit any of the Christmas Markets? 2. Were arrangements made for guests to attend a Christmas Eve service? 2. How was the Christmas Dinner?? firstplacechef Posted December 29, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted December 29, 2013 Schedule was skewed a little due to Christmas and some locks were closed, but we left Paris early and did first day on next to last day. Nothing was missed. Many markets, some good and some not so good, with Paris markets were to be open until New Years. Special Christmas meal. I'll post later some menu items later. Weather has been 40-50s with some rain and wind. Christmas Eve we went to the 10:30 Mass at Notre Dame in Rouen. More later as we are heading to the airport, :(

This is why River Cruising is the best way to travel. Can't wait to read your full report. Also, changing the schedule due to the locks is common. We sailed near Bastille Day and our schedule had to be altered also, but, we too, were able to see everything. Those Lock workers don't play around when it comes to holidays. Good for Them!:D
