banditoo Posted November 1, 2008 #1 Share Posted November 1, 2008 Has anyone taken the Nile River cruise on the MS Royal Ruby (Nile Sun Cruises)? We are booked for January. I would be interested in any comments or tips.
Rare cruisemom42 Posted November 1, 2008 #2 Share Posted November 1, 2008 There are hundreds of Nile cruisers, so you may not get a response here. I encourage you to check out the Egypt boards on tripadvisor.com where you might be more likely to get feedback on a particular cruise.
banditoo Posted November 1, 2008 Author #3 Share Posted November 1, 2008 Thanks for the suggestion. I have checked Trip Advisor and there is little info there as well. When we get back, I'll post my own review and then there will be a little something.
banditoo Posted February 5, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted February 5, 2009 We were very satisfied with the MS Royal Ruby. No one on our boat came down with mummy tummy which speaks to the cleanliness and food handling on the boat. Rooms were basic and comfortable. We spent little time in the room or really on the boat as the purpose of the trip is to see the sites along the Nile. Was a great trip and itinerary. banditoo Posted March 4, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted March 4, 2009 who did you book with and cost? Looking for a 4 night We actually booked with Goway tours for their 9 night package which included start and finish in Cairo with the 4 night Luxor to Aswan river cruise. The local tour operator they used was R Voyages. I didn't like the multi hosts and handing off that R Voyages did for the Cairo airport pickup and drop off process. You can book direct for the Royal Ruby via the attached link to Nile Sun cruises. http://www.nilesun.com/Nile%20Cruises_Royal%20Ruby%20.asp
banditoo Posted March 5, 2009 Author #7 Share Posted March 5, 2009 We had a wonderful guide in Cairo for our day tour of the pyramids, sphinx, solar boat, Egyptian Museum, and Khan el Khalili bazaar. She also took us to a great restaurant for Egyptian lunch and made time for us to stop for coffee in the famous Fishawey coffee shop in the bazaar. She taught us a lot about Egyptian history as well as about her life as a young Muslim woman in current times. If you are looking for a guide, let me know and I will post her contact info.
