Rare Coral Posted October 2, 2004 #1 Share Posted October 2, 2004 I saw a posting on the RCCL board: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=85601 Someone spent 2 extra days on the RCCL Mariner due to the hurricane and was unable to return to the port on time (thus incurring extra expenses on the ship). Their insurance is covering extra gratuities on the ship, cab fare to airport, etc... Those of you who spent 9 days on the Caribbean Princess may want to look into this. I would not have thought of this.
Justmetalkin Posted October 2, 2004 #2 Share Posted October 2, 2004 Good thought Coral. I just checked mine, (in the event of), and while I am not a lawyer, or an insurance agent, it appears I would have this coverage should I need it.
cruiserlisa Posted October 2, 2004 #3 Share Posted October 2, 2004 I was one of the people on the Mariner and during that two extra days I had to buy hubby 2 pair of shorts since we ran out of clean clothes. Also had to buy shirts. We also had drinks and tipped extra. I am calling my insurance and see if they will let me file a claim. Good thing that I saved all my reciepts. One other reason to get travel insurance. Lisa
Desertbelle Posted October 2, 2004 #4 Share Posted October 2, 2004 I would think you could have done laundry instead of buying new clothes!
Justmetalkin Posted October 2, 2004 #5 Share Posted October 2, 2004 I would think you could have done laundry instead of buying new clothes! More fun to buy new!
Desertbelle Posted October 2, 2004 #6 Share Posted October 2, 2004 Yes, it is more fun John :) But Cruiserlisa is hoping the insurance company will pay for new clothes because the others were dirty. I can see the insurance company paying for the laundry costs, but not for new clothes.
dosi Posted October 2, 2004 #7 Share Posted October 2, 2004 Perhaps the cruiseline was concerned about water usage since they weren't exactly sure when they would be back. In that case I would think the laundry service would be closed.
Justmetalkin Posted October 2, 2004 #8 Share Posted October 2, 2004 Good point Dosi. Hadn't thought of that. Either way, I am sure it spells out what is covered in the policy and I would doubt they would cover new if laundry is available. I didn't mean to say that the insurance should pay for new. Just more fun getting new than doing laundry. lol
spongerob Posted October 2, 2004 #9 Share Posted October 2, 2004 Fresh water is made on board via reverse osmosis systems. They pretty much can't run out as long as everything is functioning.
