Yellow Fever Waiver Letter

Anyone traveling to Peru, Ecuador or Peru to Ecuador had to present a yellow Fever Waiver letter recently? The regions we're visiting in both countries (Quito, Guayaquil, Galapagos, Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu and Lake Titicaca) are regions where (according to the CDC page) Yellow Fever vaccine is not recommended. Any recent experiences would be appreciated.

I'm a bit confused. My understanding is that a waiver letter is used by a person who cannot tolerate the vaccine when traveling to an area that has an outbreak and returning to a country that does not want visitors to enter if they could be bringing the disease in. If the CDC says there is no need for the vaccination in the areas you are going to, why would you need a letter at all?

Nobody wanted to see our proof of vaccination in those places. We got the vaccination for a Brazil trip which required it because we went to a country afterwards that - officially - wanted proof. However, they didn't check either.

And yes, the letter would be for someone who cannot be vaccinated.

Would that country be st lucia? In a quandary as to getting the shot on our trip to Brazil which does not require same. Going down the Amazon and later to St Lucia which seems to want one if you are coming from Brazil. Trying to find out if that is if you are a resident of Brazil or also applies rd you have just visited Brazil prior to arriving in St Lucia.

We were in Peru for Lima, Cusco, sacred Valley and Machu Picchu for a Globus tour July 2015. No letter was mention or needed. We did take any shots. The trip was great.:)

We are doing a Globus tour of Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu in March,2016. Did you think they did a good job? How were the hotels and transportation? Guides?

Globus did a great job for us. We stayed in first class hotels. Had excellent custom order dinners and the guides followed us from Cusco to Manchu Picchu and back. We would recommend them.

Glad to hear it. Our travel agent recommended this tour and it synched up with our cruise around the horn. Looking forward to it!
