Taxi fare Texas City (Avis/Budget) to Port Galveston?

Hello,

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth while to rent Avis/Budget to Texas City and take a taxi to the port.

Has anyone taken a taxi from Texas City to the port?

Transfer prices are little pricy as well as Enterprise car rental.

We boarded in Galveston today. While we didn't take a taxi from Texas City, we talked with others who did - it was $45.

I called a cab company and they said $40, so $45 may have been with tip. This seems to be my cheapest option rental car $40 and taxi $45. We get to keep the car overnight and then get a ride to the port.

Yeah, that's exactly what we did. Cheapest option & worked out well. We did take a taxi from Galveston back to Budget in Texas City after the cruise & it was $40.

Do you just call a cab from the rental car office? Also, is it difficult to get a minivan taxi? I have 5 people plus luggage.

Go to the port, drop off passengers and luggage then return to Texas City and catch cab to port and meet your party. Texas City is the first city north of Galveston once you cross the causeway. Not very far.

Just got in to Galveston for our Carnival Freedom cruise. Found a local taxi driver recommendation here on Cruise Critic. Contacted him before arrival and gave us great info about the Island. When we needed a ride, I called him and we were his next customer. When we wanted to get back to our hotel, called him and we were his next customer. PLEASE give him your business when on the Island. Who is he? Galvestonn Taxi Kent. His number: 409. 497. 5117.

I'll be using him to get us to the port as well. Can't give you any stronger recommendation than this.
