Post Cruise South Beach Stay in December. Should I Cancel?

I've booked for our December post cruise stay in south beach. We'll be traveling with our two kids. My plan was to take them to Wynwood and spend time on south beach. Now the area being in Red Zone, should I cancel and book somewhere else? If so, where do you recommend? Hollywood beach or Fort Lauderdale beach? We're flying out from FLL.

This is a decision that only you and your family can make, not anonymous posters on a cruise critic board.

But that said, I can tell you what my family is doing in 2 weeks. Our son and his fiance are getting married in South Beach (we live north of Fort Lauderdale; they live outside Washington, DC). It is a destination wedding with guests - ranging in age from 4 months to 86 years - coming from throughout the United States and Europe. None of them are pregnant although a large number are of childbearing age. No one declined due to Zika. Every goody bag will have an insect repelling wrist/ankle band. I'm not sure of its efficacy since DEET isn't an ingredient but it's the thought that counts. :p Everyone is encouraged to take precautions and use DEET based insect repellent liberally (no need for expensive perfume :D).

As far as recommending you change your post cruise stay to Hollywood or Fort Lauderdale, I feel you have no 100% guarantee that Zika would not have spread to there by December.

Whatever you decide, I hope you have great cruise and a wonderful post-cruise vacation.

We were just in both South Beach and Wynwood last weekend and all is normal in both places.

Honestly, I would be more worried about the crime in South Florida than the off chance that you may get bit by a mosquito.
