Honeymooners83 Posted April 5, 2017 #1 Share Posted April 5, 2017 hi all. We are looking at booking our Honeymoon on 3rd November from Florida to Southern Caribbean and Mexico. We've been reading mixed reviews about the weather around that time of year. We appreciate it's hard to predict but if anyone has been on a cruise for 2 weeks from beginning of November around this area we would appreciate your advice. Thank you. blue_water Posted April 5, 2017 #2 Share Posted April 5, 2017 The weather during hurricane season is most definitely something to be concerned with. We've been on land vacations in Mexico and the surrounding areas in November a few times and enjoyed nice weather with periods of heavy squalls. As long as your expectations are reasonable you can have a good cruise. You may be diverted from a port due to storms or get rained out, but that is just part of the deal with cruising during the rainy season. Are you locked into that season for some reason? If so just be sure to purchase travel insurance (a good idea any time of year) and allow an extra day to fly into FL before the cruise, and an extra day to fly home after the cruise. Also, the best Southern Caribbean cruises originate in San Juan, PR, while cruises originating out of FL don't get as far south so do take a look at those cruises as well! Enjoy your planning! Honeymooners83 Posted April 5, 2017 Author #3 Share Posted April 5, 2017 Hi thanks for your reply. We are open minded about the weather but really don't want it to affect our special holiday (Honeymoon). We are not locked into November, just having trouble finding a cruise itinerary that we like the look of and this one went to a lot of ports on celebrity who we've cruised with before and liked. blue_water Posted April 5, 2017 #4 Share Posted April 5, 2017 We've taken several cruises April - May and always enjoyed perfect weather but often with a quick downpour, just the reality of paradise I guess!
lovevacadays Posted April 21, 2017 #5 Share Posted April 21, 2017 We took a cruise in early November to the Western Caribbean a few years back. The weather was perfect and the seas were like glass. With that said, you really never know. We did a cruise in December 2016 out of Fort Lauderdale and when we arrived a day early it was storming. We actually loved it and the weather for the cruise ended up to be really good. It's always a gamble.
blue_water Posted April 21, 2017 #6 Share Posted April 21, 2017 Yes you never know what weather you may encounter, but it is much less a gamble during high season. I don't know how many people we know or have seen reports from folks who took their first cruise in Oct - Nov and swore they would never cruise again because of their experience with the rough seas and missed ports...
