Back on the Madge questions

Recommended Posts

I am back on the Madge in August after some time spent with P&O. Things seem to have changed so a number of questions

When downloading an e-ticket there are lots of pages but just a little reference to e-ticket on the first page. Do i really need to print all that stuff or is a print of page 1 enough to get me on the plane and ship?

Printing the boarding passes seems wierd, does it work OK?

Do you still have to collect your case from baggage claim in Corfu?

Plane arrives at 19:45, what time on ship?

What time lifeboat drill, if any?

Return flight leaves 20:45, what time leaving ship?

Itinery is Corfu, Ag Nik, Bodrum, Kusadasi, Athens, Kalamata, Corfu

Anything to do/see at Bodrum, Kusadasi, Kalamata if i don't take an excursion?

Does the new buffet serve the same menu as the old one?

Is the casino open the first night, we leave at 11pm, VERY IMPORTANT ;)

Hi Dave.

When downloading an e-ticket there are lots of pages but just a little reference to e-ticket on the first page. Do i really need to print all that stuff or is a print of page 1 enough to get me on the plane and ship?

We only print the first page. Just check you have not missed some important little bit of info that may have strayed onto page 2.

Printing the boarding passes seems wierd, does it work OK?

Yes.

Do you still have to collect your case from baggage claim in Corfu?

Yes, and it's still a nightmare.

Plane arrives at 19:45, what time on ship?

9 to 9.30 ish, coach journey only 15 mins but it's picking the luggage up and checking in that takes the time.

What time lifeboat drill, if any?

Probably 10pm in the Jubilee Lounge.

Return flight leaves 20:45, what time leaving ship?

6ish.

Very similar to cafe Royale food, they still have the BBQ sauce ribs. :D

Not long after you pull away matey. :D:D

We flew with Thomsons in May and downloaded our e-tickets. When we got to Gatwick we had to join the usual queue, there was no separate queue for e-tickets. When we got to the desk she ripped up our e-tickets and produced the normal cardboard ones ... what a complete waste of time and money printing our own tickets.

When we went to Spain in May, we printed out our boarding passes, but were given the cardboard ones too at Gatwick  my daughter and family following 5 minutes behind kept the paper ones!!

On the way back we all kept the paper ones

So it might be that I will have to go through the whole check-in palaver even though I have pre printed boarding passes. :(

I have a afternoon flight from Gatwick and was planning to allow 2.5 hours to check in, have lunch etc. Is this reasonable?

Looks like there is little opportunity for dinner at corfu if we don't get on the ship until 9pm.

What exactly does an e-ticket look like (not a boarding pass)?

Trying to log onto mythomson just gives an error message but I can get there by clicking the link on my confirmation email.

all that shows me is another copy of the email but with an e-ticket, reference number and date in a 'luggage label' shape at the top right of page 1

Is that it? or should i be getting a 'proper' ticket?

Maybe i should contact my TA although they are sometimes rather dense.

done the API

will print out the plane boarding passes a week before departure.

ps the email link shows a page that is slightly different as it does not have the links shown that the email has

I have just come back from 2 weeks on the Majesty.

I did the API & boarding passes online and had no problems at Manchester.

As I hadn't booked through Thomson I asked my TA to print off the etickets, but no one looked at these! That said I still print everything.

You do collect your own case at Corfu airport & take it to the bus, and get your cruise card and luggage label with your cabin number at the airport, but check in proper at the cruise terminal - I'm assuming it's the same for later flights too. The check in for the ship at Corfu was really well organised in my opinion. The transfer to the ship is about 20 mins.

I was on the 6am flight, so lifeboat drill was early evening, but there was one after the late show finished for late arrivals.

In Ag Nik I just wandered - not much there but I was happy to take it easy. A lot went to Spinalonga though, which is apparently very good.

Bodrum I walked all round the town, the museum & also Mausoleum are closed on Mondays though - still enjoyed my day there.

Kusadasi I went on the ship's tour to Miletus & Didyma, as I've been to Ephasus - there were only 8 of us in the mini bus, so it was like a private tour - nice if you like ruins, though doesn't compare to Ephasus.

Kalamata - it's only a short stay. Some people I met went to the beach. I went on the tour to Messini, which again is a ruined city. It's a nice ride out and our half full coach had the site almost to ourselves. Again depends if you like ruins, but I enjoyed this one.

In theory the casino opens about half an hour after you sail, but on week 2 we didn't sail until 3.30am due to delayed flights.

I've had a great time - enjoy!!
