cruisinsince75 Posted January 4, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 4, 2005 Our Radisson Diamond cruise may be cancelled and we are looking at other alternatives. It looks like that SS has plenty of good deals going on in the Med. starting in April. Which one are you on? One that we are considering is the Silver Whisper from Rome to Villefranche at 50% off. uk1 Posted January 4, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 4, 2005 Don, Don't agonise - book whilst you can at those prices. You'll enjoy it. In my view it's better to depart from Rome than arrive, and if you can add a few days before and after then all the better. If you haven't been to Rome - well you must! Don't start me off about Ostia Antica versus Pompeii! Villefranche is next door to Nice which is a great palce to spend a few nights. Mrs UK1's two favourite restaurants are in Nice and Cap Ferrat which is next door to VF. We've booked Shadow Rome>Barcelona (May 11 days) and Wind Istanbul>Venice August (12 days) and I'm hiding iteraries from Mrs UK1 so she doesn't book any more - though I guess she'll win! Neither are currently stonking deals but both call at places we like. Have not been on Radisson but most that have seem to favour SS and never go back. cruisinsince75 Posted January 4, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted January 4, 2005 I'm curious as to why the Radisson Diamond cruise may be cancelled ?? My son has a honeymoon cruise booked in September on that ship .. . The ship has been sold to a Mr. Ho in China and he is moving the ship to Hong Kong to use it as a gambling casino. There is some question as to whether RSSC (that only leases the ship) will be able to keep it through the 2005 European season. RSSC has already cancelled all the cruises after October, that is the Caribbean season and apparantly the decision is Mr. Ho's and he wants it moved to China in less than 6 months. Some still believe that the Diamond will keep all of its Mediterranean itineraries and the ship will move after that. Editing to say that RSSC hasn't cancelled the cruises after October, but they have removed all of them from the website. Speculation is they are going to be cancelled.
