Port Departure Times - Website vs All Aboard vs Departure

This might be a silly question, but I am just trying to get some clarification. If the DCL website says that you are in port from 8 am - 4 pm, what exactly does that 4 pm relate to? Are the listed times the actual time that the ship is pulling away from the dock or is that the "all aboard" time? Thanks

It is the scheduled departure time. The captain will then set an "all aboard" time for crew which is generally 30 or more minutes before the "all aboard" time for guests. The ship will pull away from the dock when the captain says it will...and of course all posted times are approximate.

Example--all aboard time for guests at Port Canaveral is usually 4pm; scheduled departure time is 5 pm.

Now, why you would care is a mystery. If you are planning a private excursion, you'll want to be sure that you are back on the ship well before the stated "all aboard" time to avoid any problems like traffic issues. There are plenty of videos showing what happens to people who are late.

Thanks for the info. I definitely will be back on board with time to spare. I was just curious what the listed time actually referred to on the website.
