saturday-everyday Posted February 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2014 This October I went on my second cruise -- a four day sail on The Aria with Aqua Expeditions. It was one of the best travel experiences of my life! I loved exploring the Amazon and doing so in such luxury. I write a detailed report with photos on my blog: Part I: http://www.alexinwanderland.com/2013...amazon-review/ Part II: http://www.alexinwanderland.com/2013...amazon-review/ There seems to be few reviews about Aqua Expeditions online so just to address a few questions I had before embarking: 1. I think the four day itinerary was perfect. Three days would have been too short and for me, seven days would have been a tad long to be completely disconnected from the world (and excursions may have become repetitive). 2. I brought $150 in total for tipping. There will be two boxes to put envelopes in (one for guides and one for crew). Unfortunately I don't remember the recommended breakdown but just bring small bills in anticipation. 3. I highly recommend spending some time in Iquitos before or after the cruise. It is a very interesting city -- well worth a day and night to explore before embarking!

Stratheden Posted February 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2014 Thanks for the wonderful reports. I would love to do that cruise BUT How were the biting insects? I am like a magnet to mosquitos, sandflies, midgees and every other thing that bites and I end up pretty miserable.
